Annie Liu
Annie Liu harbors a profound passion for music that has guided her entire life towards the study and teaching of piano. From a tender age, she embarked on this musical journey, accumulating over three decades of experience. Her path has been strewn with a rich tapestry of theoretical knowledge and artistic prowess, enhancing her teaching skills and igniting her limitless musical imagination. As a seasoned artist, Annie is celebrated for her spontaneity and precision, qualities that have deepened her insight and understanding of music profoundly. In her illustrious career, Annie has refined her teaching methodology, working with students young and old, and customizing her approach to nurture each individual’s unique abilities. She takes pride in creating an encouraging learning environment, adopting suitable techniques to foster ongoing progress and enhancement in her students. Annie’s professional journey is marked by notable recognitions and certifications, evidencing her commitment to her craft and her students. She holds a Higher Education Teacher Certificate, has been certified in GRADE 6 MUSIC THEORY by The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, and has received the International Federation of Artists ILA Piano Supervisor SG10 Certification, among other achievements. She has also served as an Invigilator for ILA of Greater China Piano, a Director of the Piano Society of the Yunnan Musicians Association, and a Jury Member for numerous prestigious piano competitions. Her educational milestones include certifications in advanced piano grades, the Dalcroze teaching method, Body Percussion Teacher Training, and attendance at esteemed workshops and masterclasses, such as the Yundi Li International Piano Master Class. Furthermore, she has been an influential figure in several piano arts festivals and competitions across China, contributing her expertise as a jury member and fostering musical excellence in the next generation of pianists. Annie is also preparing for the Dip ABRSM exam for the Royal Conservatory of Music Performer’s Diploma, a testament to her never-ending pursuit of musical mastery. Debra Innis
Debra Innis is an accomplished music teacher with a rich background in both education and performance. She began her teaching career at two music studios before the COVID-19 pandemic and made a notable return to teaching at the Irvine Art and Music studio in September 2021. Over the years, Debra has been instrumental in preparing numerous students for their recitals, showcasing her dedication to their musical growth. Her academic journey in music started with a major in music from Trinity College, followed by a minor in music from the University of Illinois. With over 35 years of teaching experience, Debra has honed her skills to proficiently teach students from beginners to upper intermediate levels. She is particularly noted for her expertise in Music Theory and her ability to perform in orchestras and small groups, primarily with the violin. Debra also excels as a private dinner party performer, where her talents provide a sophisticated backdrop for various events. Outside of her professional pursuits, Debra is deeply engaged with her hobbies, which include playing the piano—especially on her grand piano—and the violin. She finds joy in playing Mazas violin duets and takes pride in her skill to evaluate and customize music to fit the unique needs of most students. While her main passion lies in classical music, she has a broad appreciation for various genres, with jazz being the sole exception. Debra’s extensive experience and personal dedication to music make her a valued educator and performer in the music community.
Effy Huang
Effy Huang is an Irvine native who embodies the spirit of her hometown. A product of the Irvine Unified School District from K-12, Effy continued her academic journey at UC Irvine, earning multiple degrees in music, web design & development, and literature. Though she initially pursued a five-year career in the tech industry, she ultimately returned to her first passion: music. Effy brings a wealth of experience to her students as a seasoned cello instructor. She has served as an adjunct cello instructor at St. Margaret’s in San Juan Capistrano and as Assistant Music Director at the Waldorf School in Costa Mesa. Currently, she is the Co-Principal Cellist of the Orchestra Collective of Orange County and performs with both the “For Four” String Quartet and the OCofOC Cello Quartet. Effy has had the privilege of learning from esteemed colleagues and world-renowned musicians, which has shaped her artistry and teaching approach. In 2023, she earned the Gold Prize at the VanBach International Music Competition for her interpretation of Etude No.18 and is now preparing to compete in the Fanny Mendelssohn Chamber Music Competition this winter. Residing in Huntington Beach with her husband and her pet bunny, Snowy, Effy is excited to share her passion for music with the Irvine Art and Music Center community, inspiring her students to reach their full potential.
Ann Ng
Ann Ng is a Los Angeles and Orange County-based piano instructor, keyboardist, arranger, producer, and music copyist. Originally from Malaysia, Ann began her musical journey at age six, completing her ABRSM certification in high school. She pursued further studies at Berklee College of Music, earning a degree in Contemporary Writing & Production, and later achieved a Master’s in Church Music from California Graduate School of Ministries in Los Angeles. Over the past 20 years, Ann has contributed to major TV productions like Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, and the Emmy Awards, working with artists such as Natalie Cole, Vanessa Carlton, The Pussycat Dolls, The Black Eyed Peas, and Michael Bublé. She has also arranged and produced music for Christian ministries in Los Angeles, Taiwan, and China, collaborating with organizations like Son Music and Nehemiah Music. Ann’s versatility extends to live performances with the Brazilian jazz band Brasil Brazil at venues like Lincoln Center in NYC, and collaborations with Latin music icons such as Gloria Trevi, Diego Gonzalez, and Luz Rios, with whom she performed at the Latin Grammy Awards. Since 2010, Ann has focused more on teaching, offering instruction in classical, jazz, worship, and contemporary music. She is an active member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC) and the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC). Ann is dedicated to sharing her extensive musical experience with students of all ages, fostering an environment that encourages passion and a deep appreciation for music.
Felicia Chen
Felicia Chen is a dynamic and versatile musician whose talents span across guitar, piano, and traditional Chinese instruments. Born and raised in Taiwan, Felicia brings a rich cultural perspective to her music and teaching, fluently speaking English, Mandarin, and Taiwanese. Felicia's musical journey began at the tender age of four when she started classical piano training. Her dedication and passion for music led her to develop impeccable pitch and a deep understanding of music theory, earning her the prestigious Level 5 Piano Teaching Certificate from Yamaha. As a trailblazer in her field, Felicia is proud to be the first Taiwanese female graduate of the renowned Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT) at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California. Her time at GIT solidified her reputation as an exceptional guitarist, capable of mastering a wide range of styles and techniques. Before pursuing her musical dreams in the U.S., Felicia earned a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Chung Shan Medical University, showcasing her diverse talents and disciplined work ethic. Felicia is not only a talented performer but also a dedicated teacher, inspiring students with her vast knowledge and approachable teaching style. Her multicultural background and expertise in both Western and Eastern instruments make her an invaluable mentor for aspiring musicians of all ages.
