Brandon Corenman

A new resident of Orange County, Brandon Corenman is an accomplished music educator with over 14 years of public school teaching experience, including 11 years as Music Director of University City High School in San Diego, CA. Whether students are looking to begin their musical adventure or take their skills to the next level, Mr. Corenman is passionate about sharing the joy of music with students of all ages and abilities. Specializing in brass (trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba), he offers personalized lessons tailored to meet the individual needs and goals of each student. As a music educator, Mr. Corenman has extensive experience instructing students grades 6-12 in the disciplines of band/marching band, string orchestra, and choir. Mr. Corenman also has experience instructing drum and bugle corps including the 2014 Drum Corps International Open Class Champions, Blue Devils ‘B’ of Concord, CA (2013-2015), and The Academy of Tempe, AZ (2008). Mr. Corenman’s ensembles at University City High School regularly earned Superior Ratings at SCSBOA festivals and, under his direction, the UCHS ‘Centurion Sound’ Marching Band & Colorguard medaled at SCSBOA 2A Field Championships every year from 2017-2023, including the program’s first and only Gold Medal finish in 2019. Some of Mr. Corenman’s accolades as a music educator include: San Diego Unified School District Visual and Performing Arts Department “Outstanding High School Instrumental Music Teacher of the Year” (2018), San Diego Unified School District Visual and Performing Arts Department “Spotlight Award for Creative Leadership” (2022), and University City High School “Stand Out Staff Award” (2022). Beyond the classroom, Mr. Corenman has performed with a wide variety of ensembles including wind ensembles, marching bands, symphony orchestras, brass quintets, jazz bands, rock bands, salsa bands, ska bands, and more. Mr. Corenman holds a Bachelor’s of Music Education from Arizona State University (2008) and a Master’s of Music Education from the American Band College of Central Washington University (2018).
