PRS "Dead Spec" Silver Sky Limited Electric Guitar - Satin Moc Sand: Channeling the Best of John and Jerry

Experience the reimagined Silver Sky, revered in the hands of Dead & Company’s John Mayer, now reincarnated with modifications that will thrill Deadhead gear enthusiasts. The Silver Sky “Dead Spec” Limited pays homage to Jerry Garcia’s “Alligator” guitar from the early ’70s, prominently featuring swamp ash construction, an Alembic Blaster preamp, and a brass nut and string retainer at the headstock. Noteworthy appointments include a surface-mounted hardtail Gen III Tremolo, vintage-style locking tuners, and a trio of 635 JM single-coils, delivering reliability and delightful playability. Fusing Mayer’s and Garcia’s quintessential guitar tones and styles, the Silver Sky “Dead Spec” Limited from Irvine Art and Music encapsulates a special energy rooted in decades of musical and communal legacy.

Exciting tonewoods, blending old and new This Silver Sky “Dead Spec” Limited shares the same swamp ash body as Jerry Garcia’s ’55 “Alligator” guitar, offering a warm yet sparkling tone—a quintessential sound for Grateful Dead melodies. Its contemporary complement includes a maple neck and rosewood-topped fingerboard boasting 22 frets, inviting exploration across genres from soft rock to psychedelia, jazz, folk, and beyond.

Three-of-a-kind 635 JMs Adored by single-coil aficionados, the Silver Sky “Dead Spec” Limited boasts three 635 JM single-coils, merging the best qualities of early-'60s American electric guitars: a full, round tone with articulate highs that never become piercing. These pickups deliver incredible harmonics, growling beautifully with exceptional note definition when paired with a tube amplifier. Offering a higher signal-to-noise ratio and noise-canceling in-between sounds, these precision-valued electronics ensure consistency across all pickups.

Tone-preserving preamp Embracing Jerry Garcia's preamp choice—the Alembic Blaster—the Silver Sky “Dead Spec” Limited's mini-toggle on a brass control plate boosts your guitar’s output while allowing effortless volume adjustments without compromising tonal integrity.

Sonically solid hardware Influenced by Garcia’s legacy, the hardware includes a brass nut and string retainer, providing clarity, brightness, and sustain while maintaining stable string seating. Vintage-style locking tuners and a modified hardtail Gen III Tremolo ensure precise intonation, offering the confidence needed for any performance.
